Attorney Bio

Maurice Rice II is a Chicago native and seasoned criminal defense trial attorney with over 8 years of experience in practicing law. He is also the Managing Attorney & Owner of the Rice Law Firm, LLC.

At 18, after graduating high school, Maurice’s call to advocacy began with a desire to determine his life’s purpose. Maurice would travel throughout the world after enlisting in the United States Army for eight years, which included two deployments and receiving the Bronze Star Medal. Following an honorable discharge, Maurice spent the next four years as a county police officer while earning a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice Administration. Maurice’s prior law enforcement background & experience, exceptionally equips his ability to identify critical issues involving law enforcement contacts & investigations while aiding in the development of a vigorous defense for our clients that stand accused of a crime.   

Maurice’s realization of his life’s purpose began with attending law school at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Years of public service in the military and as a police officer were “steps on a staircase” to become not just another attorney but most importantly — a vessel to serve people — as an Advocate for justice.

Upon graduating law school, passing the Uniform Bar Exam, and being sworn-in as a licensed Illinois attorney; Maurice has promoted advocacy for people and championed justice as a criminal records expungement attorney, assistant state’s attorney, assistant attorney general, and as a criminal defense attorney.

As a former prosecutor and experienced criminal defense attorney, Maurice has resolved numerous misdemeanor & felony criminal cases, including various DUI & traffic offenses. He is a uniquely skilled attorney with a keen ability to analyze and assess a criminal case from all sides.

In counseling and advising every client on the details of their matter and our mutual strategy, clients are assured that they are not alone and remain informed at every stage of a legal proceeding.
